After just five sessions of this course I can emphatically say that I have found it most helpful  and enjoyable. Nicky Gumbel's presentation of each 'lesson" or topic on video is uplifting and entertaining; his humility, sincerity and lovely sense of humour, combined with his eloquent, highly articulate delivery, makes each message a potent one. This is no remote, impersonal ecclesiastical token course, but an absorbing, practical and thoughtprovoking one richly laced with Gumbel's often hilarious anecdotes of his own life experiences and of his own conversion to Christianity.

A very important aspect of this course is that it has given me the opportunity to get to know and appreciate other members of the congregation. I enjoy our little group of about 9 - 10 members and the discussions we have, led by Danie, at each meeting. I have never believed that the contents of the Bible cannot be the subject of debate, and I have found our discussions have given me helpful, fresh perspectives on certain perplexing issues.

Soon after my wife and I moved to this area she became ill and began a two-year battle with cancer. My one regret is that my beloved Suna, who died on 12th November, cannot join me. A devout member of the NG Kerk all her life, she would have loved this course and, being such a wise, convivial, widely loved person herself would naturally have loved participating, as well as "kuiering" with the members. I shall be eternally grateful to Danie for welcoming me into the gemeente on 19 October when I arrived, alone, that Sunday morning in a distraught state, and especially, for ministering to Suna promptly in hospital and at home,  and finally, at her funeral. She and I appreciate him immensely.
